Commercial vehicle specialist strengthens its focus on continuing its record growth with new appointment

LCV dealer David Spear Commercial Vehicles is delighted to announce the appointment of Laurence Winmill as CEO. Laurence has been working as a consultant at David Spear since May 2016. His new position as CEO will see him develop and manage the commercial vehicle expert’s business strategy and growth plans over the next few years.

In recent months, David Spear has defied the national slowdown in new LCV registrations to report record growth, and the new appointment is expected to ensure this upward trend continues.

“An exciting new challenge in a new role. I am delighted to be able to help an ambitious business achieve its core business objectives. This year’s target includes 20% growth year on year, and I’m thrilled to report that as we approach the end of the second quarter we have exceeded that target,” said Laurence.

With a background in business strategy, marketing, people management and process improvement, Laurence is certainly well placed to develop and deliver on David Spear’s growth plans. The appointment comes at a very exciting time in the company’s history, and since May 2016, a variety of achievements are already apparent.

David Spear has grown by 30% mid-term after the first five months of 2017. The firm has also seen the overhaul of its business structure and implementation of an aggressive recruitment policy to source and place the right people within the business to help it move forward. David Spear recently acquired and opened its new site in Cardiff, whilst its Tredegar based headquarters received further expansion and development thanks to the addition of a state-of-the-art vehicle preparation centre, complete with workshops and valeting facilities.

David Spear, Owner of David Spear Commercial Vehicles, added, “We are delighted to have Laurence on board as our new CEO. His appointment is a vital part of the formula we are developing to expand the business, driving it forward to achieve its full potential. As well as achievements in growth, the use of market research has become an instrumental tool for us. With a firm strategy in place, we have been able to better understand customer needs, underpin our overall marketing approach and collaborate with key partners to share information and insights about the UK LCV marketplace. Laurence’s knowledge and experience will be, and has already been, invaluable as we develop our company to grow and deliver an unrivalled experience to our customers.”
