At David Spear Commercials, we believe in creating careers — not just jobs — and this is a perfect example of that in action.

Layla Price and Logan Davies have been recognised for their outstanding achievements, securing Bronze and Silver at Skills Competition Wales — part of the Welsh Government’s apprenticeship programme delivered through The College Merthyr Tydfil, a venue with a strong track record of producing medal-winning talent across multiple vocational disciplines.

This achievement places them among the top tier of apprentices in their field across Wales — a fantastic reflection of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their craft. Competitions like this play a vital role in building confidence, enhancing employability, and showcasing emerging talent directly to employers.

“Winning this award has made me so happy beyond words — it shows that all my hard work and dedication has paid off.”

Both have recently completed their Level 2 Vehicle Refinishing course and are developing into highly skilled technicians working across a wide range of vehicles, from small panel vans to large 3.5t Lutons, and even £70k Land Rover Defender Hard Tops. They are already building strong, multi-skilled capabilities in commercial vehicle paint and body repair.

Layla and Logan joined David Spear Commercials through our apprenticeship programme, combining hands-on experience with structured learning via the Merthyr College Apprenticeship Scheme — a three-year pathway designed to create long-term careers.

Geraint Yeo, Director at David Spear Commercials, said:

“It’s great to see our young people advancing their experience and skills. We firmly believe in creating wealth within the local area by investing in people, skills and long-term employment opportunities. Our relationship with Merthyr College is essential, and Layla and Logan epitomise what happens when you invest in people and give them the opportunity to excel.”

This success also reflects our wider journey following the transition to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), reinforcing our long-term commitment to investing in our people, developing skills, and creating opportunities within the local community.

Because when you invest in people, you don’t just build a business — you build futures.
