Motor Vehicle Fitter

Job Vacancy: Motor Vehicle Fitter – Light Commercial Vehicles
Salary: £22k-25k – Based on experience
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: 40 hrs per week

The Role

As a Motor Vehicle Fitter, your role at David Spear Commercial Vehicles is to diagnose the faults and defects of any vehicles presented in the workshop. Due care, skill and diligence are basic requirements for the role, whilst any requisite repairs and replacements that need to be undertaken should be completed to the highest industry standard.

As part of the diagnosis of faults and defects, you will be undertaking pre-delivery safety inspections and road tests to identify and repair the vehicle prior to it being presented for sale. Conducting servicing and repairs to a wide variety of vehicle makes and models is also a part of the role, whilst further diagnostic testing will need to be completed as and when required to identify faults that were not recognised upon physical inspection. As a market leader in the commercial vehicle world, safety is of the utmost importance to our team, and playing your own role in the maintenance of a safe and productive work environment is integral. Relevant paperwork must also be completed accurately and on time, whilst assignments must be followed through to completion and to specified deadlines.

Other duties include:

• Testing batteries and other parts of the engine to find faults
• Checking tyres and exhausts for defects
• Replacing or repairing faulty parts
• Balancing and re-aligning wheels
• Checking a vehicle's tracking
• Repairing punctures (where possible).

It's not just diagnostics, inspections, repairs, servicing and paperwork that must be dealt with professionally and to the highest possible standard as part of the role, our technicians must have excellent customer service skills and offer customers expert advice regarding simple maintenance.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role must:

• Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or above
• Be able to work well alone or as part of a team
• Have excellent customer service and communication skills
• Have the practical and technical skills to fulfil the tasks detailed in ‘The Role’
• Have basic maths skills to calculate costs and handle payments
• Have a good level of fitness
• Be aware of the health and safety regulations associated with vehicle maintenance.

Job Vacancy: Sales Executive – Light Commercial Vehicles
Salary: Basic & Commission - OTE - £45K PA

Hours: 45 per week plus 2 Saturdays per month

The Role

As a Sales Executive, you will report directly to the General Manager, and play a vital role in greeting and liaising with our customers. You will be the customer’s all-important first point of contact and in addition to discovering the type of vehicle that they require and recommending a make and model that is most fitting to their commercial requirements, you will show our customers around the forecourt, answer all of their queries confidently and relay the important features of each vehicle in our range.
Maintaining the highest standard of customer service is a prerequisite and as a Sales Executive you will devote your time to delivering this requirement. As part of your role you will also attend regular sales meetings with the rest of your team where strategies will be devised to enable you to meet your targets and company goals. Our Sales Executives must also maintain good communication with our workshop and valeting teams to ensure that a vehicle is ready for handover and all the relevant paperwork is completed.

Other duties include:

• Demonstrating vehicles to our customers – including details about its specification, payment terms and paperwork
• Providing information and selling finance, warranties, accessories and gap insurance in line with company targets
• Working with and managing the CRM system and prospect development system to create new and repeat business
• Keeping up to date with new products, features, accessories and associated benefits
• Liaising with the General Manager and Purchasing manager for vehicle appraisals on part exchange and adhering to the appropriate process.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role must:

• Have at least 3 years’ sales and customer service experience, ideally within the automotive industry. This is an ideal but not essential requirement
• Be able to work alone or as part of a team
• Understand sales targets and be able to manage performance against set targets
• Possess excellent customer service and communication skills
• Have the practical and technical skills to fulfil the tasks detailed in ‘The Role’
• Have basic maths skills to calculate costs and handle payments
• Hold a full Driver’s Licence
• Be computer literate
• Have a reliable and honest attitude
• Have the ability to understand our sales process, from prospecting to the closing of business
• Have proven sales success in previous roles.

The Role

As a valet, you will report directly to the General Manager and Workshop Manager. Your main duties will consist of preparing and cleaning new and used commercials vehicles in readiness for sale.

You must have a good understanding of thoroughness and attention to detail to produce high quality work within tight deadlines. Very often there will be a need to re-juggle schedules to meet customer requirements, hence you must be flexible and willing to reallocate your time and resource at very short notice.
Hygiene and Safety are top of the priority list and therefore you will need to manage your allocated area of the valet bay, keeping that and the wash off area clean and tidy in compliance with the standards that are set within the business.

Other main duties include:

• The ability to use high-pressure hoses to clean vehicles.
• Cleaning windows, steel wheels, alloy wheel, exterior panels, mirrors, bumpers, exterior racking, interior ply-lining and any other interior items as required.
• General Hoover and shampooing of upholstery and carpets.
• Waxing and polishing commercial vehicles of all shapes and size.
• Being aware of different products and gels and other finishes to bumpers and trims.
• Being able to steam clean the engine, frame and wheel arches.
• Knowing how to de-sticker sign-written vehicles.
• Collecting and delivering vehicles from a fixed location.
• Learning and improving technical knowledge of different vehicle types and how best they can be cleaned.
• Confident driver with a clean driving licence
• Team player as well as being able to work on own initiative.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role must:
• Have at least 1-year valet experience within the automotive industry. This is an ideal but not essential requirement
• Have a passion for detail and pride in a great result.
• Be prepared to exceed customer and management expectation levels.
• Be able to work alone or as part of a team

The Role
As a Digital Marketing Executive, you will report directly to the Marketing Manager, and play a vital role in the marketing of the David Spear brand.
As part of your role you will also attend regular sales and marketing meetings where strategies will be devised to enable the business to achieve its company goals. Other duties include:

  • Working with and managing the CRM system and prospect development system to create new and repeat business
  • Keeping up to date with new products, features, accessories and associated benefits
  • Understanding (experience desirable) using Google Analytics and AdWords
  • Understanding (experience desirable) of social media for business including scheduling, paid advertising, insights and analytics
  • The ability to create, edit and post effective photo and video content
  • The ability to create interesting and engaging content for social media including building polls and competitions
  • The ability to generate interesting and engaging copy for press releases and email content etc
  • Confident in generating informative & effective reports using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Understanding and experience using Adobe design software is desirable
  • Understanding and experience using Mailchimp is desirable

The Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role must:

  • Have a digital marketing degree or equivalent
  • Can work alone or as part of a team
  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills
