David Spear is the founder owner of David Spear Commercial Vehicles and continues to play a vital role in the daily management of the business. In 1987 David Spear who always had an interest in the motor trade decided to follow his heart and create a business that specialised in selling light vans and commercials. In the years that followed those early dreams turned into reality and through hard work, dedication and a never give up mentality he created one of the UK’s leading independent LCV brands. The name is highly respected within the trade, amongst peers, suppliers, auction houses and customers across the UK. As the business continues to grow and capitalise on emerging markets David continues to lead from the front, driving forward the company’s development including the overseeing of vehicle acquisition, chairing the executive team and planning the expansion of the David Spear brand across the UK Market. Outside of work, David is a big family man spending time with his wife and children, travelling extensively and practicing his passion for sport in the form of cycling, skiing and of course golf. He is indeed an accomplished golfer and he is of course the captain of the David Spear golfing elite!
Sarah Spear is the Company Secretary at David Spear Commercials and has worked in the business since 1994. Sarah is the right hand of owner founder David Spear and understands every part of the operation from vehicle acquisition to CRM, workshop activity and indeed the sales strategy that drives the business forward. Sarah sits on the executive team and continues to have a major input into the strategic management of David Spear Commercial Vehicles, whilst also assisting in HR and the Financial Management of the company. In her spare time, she plays mum to her grown up boys, Jordan & Elliott, travels extensively, has a passion for interior design, reads romantic novels and as a self-confessed chocoholic consumes far more chocolate than some health experts would recommend!
Geraint Yeo is the General Manager at David Spear Commercial Vehicles and oversees the daily operation of the business, including managing stock, vehicle preparation and day to day showroom activity. He joined the organisation in 2014 from Black Horse Motor Finance, where he spent 13 years working on financial products for the motor trade. As area account manager covering Wales & The Midlands he gained extensive experience servicing dealerships and independent motor traders across the region. Understanding the needs of the motor trade and the financial products required for respective customers was a fundamental part of the job and Geraint’s knowledge in this area is an asset to any client visiting the David Spear Showroom, where the best financial products can be sourced in relation to each client’s specific needs. It was during his time at Black Horse that Geraint was introduced to the David Spear brand and after three years as account manager, he made the decision to make the natural move from automotive financial services directly into the motor trade and joined David Spear Commercial Vehicles as General Manager. In his spare time, Geraint is a proud dad of two beautiful young boys and a husband to his wife Claire. Geraint is also a keen rugby supporter a 7-handicap golfer and is a proud member of the David Spear golfing elite!
James Spear is the Marketing Manager at David Spear Commercial Vehicles and oversees all marketing activity associated with the brand. Having graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Sports Marketing & PR, he moved back to Wales to take a marketing post at one of Cardiff’s leading spa hotels. In 2014 the opportunity to move into the family business with a view to develop a more integrated marketing strategy was simply a challenge that James couldn’t refuse. As the business expands and markets emerge, the challenge for the marketing team is to identify new opportunities, collaborate with key partners and work with the executive team to deliver the fully integrated marketing strategy in tune with the business plan. Outside of work James wears the No15 shirt for his beloved rugby club, walks his dog Lola and works hard at improving his golf handicap so that he can be considered for selection to the David Spear golfing elite team!
Daniel Parfitt is the man responsible for digital advertising as David Spear Commercials. This is a key role within our business with up to 300 vehicles being advertised on any given week.
This job requires organisation – he must be organised with camera, keyboard and copywriting skills in abundance to create the impact needed for our vehicles to get noticed in a very crowded marketplace.
Daniel has a host of qualifications including 12 GCSE’s, 3 A Levels and spells at Swansea and Cardiff university where he studied Sport, English and creative writing.
In his spare time, he’s a keen sports enthusiast playing football for his local team and supporting Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
Dan is also a musical whizz and strums a mean tune on his lead guitar including some iconic tunes from legendary American rock band – The Killers!
Lewis Parfitt is another member of our sales team at the David Spear Commercial Vehicles Tredegar site.
Lewis joined the business in 2015 and is a great example of the career opportunities that exist at David Spear. He began life as a part of the valet team, quickly progressing through to the Advertising & Customer Service Executive role before moving to the sale team where he regularly hits targets.
In his spare time, Lewis is an all-round sportsman and represents his local teams in football and cricket; he is also big into entertaining and retains an ongoing title as community and work’s based jester & comedian!
Stacie Rees is the main receptionist at David Spear Commercials and balances this job with her other main administrative duties within the business.
Her flexible role allows her to assist with the management of stock on the CRM database, helping with advertising copy preparation for online marketing, whilst meeting and greeting customers as they arrive at the main showroom.
Previously Stacie worked as a beauty therapist and has an NVQ level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy & Customer Service.
In her spare time, Stacie enjoys retail therapy and wining and dining around Cardiff and beyond.
Stephanie Rees is the Operations Controller at David Spear Commercials managing the data that controls the workshops that in turn integrates with our main accounting system.
Her role allows her to control work schedules and manage the costs associated with vehicle preparation. It’s a pivotal job within the business and the hub that controls the flow between front end sales and the successful management of the vehicle through the busy workshops.
Stephanie is currently studying for a level 3 diploma in customer service, which runs parallel with her career development at David Spear.
In her spare time, Stephanie is a rugby enthusiast and plays wing for her local team Senghenydd Sirens.
Shami Lelinski has been at David Spear Commercial Vehicles for over 9 years and is another member of the highly skilled workshop team. He is a fully qualified Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Technician who prides himself on his knowledge and understanding of motor vehicles. Originally from Poland he is married with two young children and is enjoying every moment of his time in the United Kingdom. Shami is also a DIY enthusiast and is currently working on his own self build housing project.
Andrew Jones is a Vehicle Technician at David Spear Commercial Vehicles, where he has been employed since 2009. He has a passion for engines and anything automotive and holds an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering. Andrew embraces the safety ethos and the need to deliver vehicles that reflect the quality that is synonymous with the company brand. Andrew lives in an historic part of Wales close to the world heritage site of Blaenavon famous for its part in the industrial revolution and the history linked to iron and coal. In his spare time, he’s a family man, but he also enjoys the rugged surroundings and uses the challenging landscapes to test his endurance in running and mountain biking.
Zack O’Neill is one of the younger members of the workshop team, although his qualifications and experience are impressive.
Zack is a talented fitter and technician plus he has an impressive record in tyre and exhaust fitting. His qualifications include a National Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair and NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Apprenticeship.
Zack brings energy and focus to the workshops, skills that also reflect his outside interests in rock climbing, calisthenics (bodyweight training), weight training and finally hiking – energy to burn!
Chris Morgan is the longest serving employee at David Spear Commercial Vehicles having been employed in the business since 1990. He’s seen the business evolve from very humble beginnings and stood alongside the owner and his family throughout, watching the business grow and develop into one of the UK’s leading LCV Independent Dealerships Loyalty is a big factor in any business and Chris demonstrates this in abundance and continues to deliver great service playing a key role with vehicle logistics and preparation.
Scott Essex is the final part in the jigsaw of the David Spear Valet Team and has many years’ experience in vehicle valet and preparation. Scott has a keen eye for details and assists in the logistics of vehicle movement throughout the preparation process. Scott is the proud father of twin daughters and has very little time outside of work to focus on anything else other than baby management at present! His other passion is off-road motorcycling, and has many aching bones as evidence of his participation in this adrenalin sport.
David Davies is another member of the Valet Team at David Spear Commercial Vehicles, having joined the business in 2015. David is an experience Valet having worked in the industry for many years and brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the Valet Team. Outside of work David is a family man and he also enjoys exercising at the gym and following his other passion, which is rugby.
Mark Davies works as a vehicle valet at David Spear Commercial Vehicles and has over 20 years’ experience in vehicle preparation. For many years Mark worked at a high-volume vehicle auction site and understands the complexities and challenges associated with vehicle preparation and valet. His in-depth knowledge adds another quality dimension to the workshop team.
Outside of work, Mark is a keen rugby man following his local club Merthyr and supporting the national Welsh Rugby team. He also has an interest in motor sport and spends most of his hard-earned cash entertaining his family and his five granddaughters.
Ryan Canniff is a member of the Vehicle Valet team at David Spear Commercial Vehicls and has been employed within the business since 2013. Presentation is everything when it comes to showcasing vehicles and the valet contribution is a huge finishing part to the whole process. Ryan is an experienced and conscientious member of a tight knit valeting team who work as a unit to ensure that the vehicle conveyor belt is constantly moving. Outside of work Ryan is a father to his young son, enjoys motorcycling and keeps fit by playing football for his local team in Ebbw Vale.
Lloyd Davies is the youngest member of the David Spear Valet team, but with his youth comes tremendous energy and enthusiasm which is reflected in the quality of his workmanship. Lloyd is a dedicated Valet who is constantly looking to achieve the best finish in every aspect of his daily job. In his spare time, Lloyd is a gym enthusiast and a keen socialite at the many gin and café bars that exist in his local town!
