Dragons’ Chief Exec hails collaboration with sponsor David Spear Commercial Vehicles at Royal Welsh as great success…
David Spear Commercial Vehicles is celebrating a successful appearance at The Royal Welsh Show with Newport Gwent Dragons as part of an innovative commercial partnership that has been warmly welcomed by the region.
The Dragons were at the commercial vehicle company’s stand throughout each day of the show entertaining visitors with competitions and PRO12 match ticket giveaways, whilst players mixed with visitors and signed autographs.
Hosted annually at Llanelwedd, near Builth Wells, The Royal Welsh Show is the one of the most prestigious agricultural shows in Europe.
It brings together the farming industry and rural community to showcase the best of Welsh livestock and food and drink and also caters for wider interests with a range of activities including crafts, countryside sports, and a sports village.
The joint appearance at this year’s show is a new partnership between the two organisations.
Their commercial relationship started eight years ago when David Spear Commercial Vehicles took a small advertising board in the Gwent region’s Argus Stand and has gradually grown from strength to strength.
In December last year David Spear Commercial Vehicles entered a new commercial deal with the Dragons to continue as the official van supplier to the region as well as adding the sponsorship of players, online video content and the Dragons E-Zine.
The new deal saw David Spear Commercial Vehicle’s become the first ever company to sponsor both the Dragons video content and the E-Zine, the Dragons new newsletter.
Stuart Davies, Newport Gwent Dragons chief executive, said: “My thanks to David Spear for facilitating the Dragons’ attendance at the Royal Welsh Show.
“The arrangement was an excellent demonstration of how we work with sponsors to bring added value to the relationship, and we would hope to do it all again next year after the success of this year’s event”
He continued: “The Royal Welsh Show brings in around 250,000 people a year and presents an excellent opportunity for the Dragons to promote our brand, engage with supporters and raise awareness of our various initiatives.
“The other regions were present in the sports village, whereas we collaborated with David Spear, one of our main sponsors.
“This was an innovative approach and worked very well for us since it meant we were well positioned and not lost amongst competing offerings.
“Fans were happy to see the Dragons at the show and appreciative of the time taken to interact with them.
“I’d like to think the arrangement with our sponsor created interest in David Spear’s offering, and we fed off each other very well.
David Spear of David Spear Commercial Vehicles said: “We are delighted to have appeared together with the Newport Gwent Dragons at the Royal Welsh Show, which helped generate a great buzz at our stand and attracted and entertained a lot of visitors.
“Thanks to the support of our innovative collaboration we had a great deal of interest in our stock with a catalogue of sales across our four-by-four range of Navara, Mitsubishi and Toyota vehicles.
“David Spear Commercial Vehicles is seeing the strong, tangible benefits of our long term commercial partnership with the Dragons.
“On behalf of the business I’d like to thank Stuart Davies plus his staff and players for their wholehearted support.
“We look forward to sharing more success together in future and wish the team the best of luck for the coming season.”
