Commercial vehicle specialist looks under the bonnet of the Vivaro as Vauxhall faces post-Brexit relocation rumours

General Motors is one organisation that has dominated the motoring press headlines after our exit from the EU, but as rumours continue to circulate about the future of the automaker’s UK plants, commercial vehicle supplier David Spear has shone the spotlight on one of its current models.

The UK-made Vauxhall Vivaro sits at the centre of the company’s latest van review, but with a tagline stating that the vehicle is ‘no.1 in its class’, is this model really the great investment that it claims to be?

David Spear, Owner of David Spear Commercial Vehicles, explains, “The Vauxhall Vivaro 120 ecoFlex is a fuel efficient medium panel van that is already making waves on the commercial market. In fact, Vauxhall claims that over the expected life cycle of the van, some £600million of revenue will have been generated for British businesses! Design wise, the Vivaro is very similar to the Renault model thanks to the appearance of its bonnet, grille, front bumper and internal headlights. The bodywork is also reminiscent of car interiors but with the ability to customise your diesel engine, bodywork and trim level the Vivaro goes one step further.”

Customers can choose from four 1.6 litre diesel engine options, as well as a variety of bodywork designs, including panel van, crew cab, up to nine-seater minibus and platform cab. Two trim levels are also available. Interior stowage is another advantage as courtesy of 14 separate cubbies the capacity is 90 litres.

This review from David Spear comes just days after it was announced that General Motors, the owner of Vauxhall, is the automotive manufacturer most likely to move its UK based operations to Europe if costs rise post-Brexit. This move would put its UK manufacturing plants at risk of closure, including the Luton base where Vauxhall builds the Vivaro van.

“Despite post-Brexit rumours, Vauxhall as a brand and a company remain strong, and the Vivaro model is a prime example of why flying the Union Jack should remain an important part of their brand message. We really like these vans, and overall it is their simplicity and sheer value for money that will appeal to commercial customers servicing multiple industry sectors. With a price range across our stock from £9,490 plus vat to £16,490 plus vat there is something on site for all, from quality used to the latest 2016 models,” concluded David.
